Camping, to me it brings up visions of the country side, birds singing, viewing wildlife, and peaceful relaxation. To others it brings up early wake up calls by darn birds, watching stupid animals standing out feeding, and constant bugs especially those that bite. Go Camping Return To Our Roots and sit around a campfire, swap a few lies and enjoy the outdoors again.
The ultimate campers were the caveman whose whole life revolved around the campfire. Today, there are two types of campers, those who enjoy it no matter what and those who hate it, there really is no in between. Sure there are many different styles of camping, begining with survival and lost, roughing it (tent only), camper/tent trailer, RV, Cabin, Motel.
Many people share in this fun activity, of Camping and Return To Our Roots. They enjoy Mother Nature at her best hopefully you fall in the first group and enjoy camping. Camping can be a day at the beach a weekend at the lake, couple of weeks for summer vacation, or sleeping out in the back yard. We are blessed because camping in Saskatchewan means you can camp at hundreds of different lakes or tourism spots across the province.
What really makes camping enjoyable?
The sounds of nature, ducks quacking, geese honking, small birds singing, a loon calling out on the lake, the splash as your hook hits the water, the buzz of bees and insects, the smell of freshness or maybe not so fresh, the things we miss out on every day because of the sounds of the city life, food cooked over an open fire.
The social aspect, pitching camp as a group, meeting other campers, sitting around an open fire, cooking meals with a fire, burning smokies, having a beer or two with friends, enjoying outdoor games, toasting marshmellows and making smores. Everyone, is doing the same as you trying to relax and forget about life worries for a few hours or days.
Exploring and sightseeing, traveling to historic sites, visiting where the family originated, seeing landmarks, looking at country side completely different from where you live, walking down a trail, hiking in the mountains, doing an outdoor adventure, walking on a sandy beach in bare feet, being a tourist, seeing the sites through someone elses prospective.
Camping is not for everyone, but most have not gone for so long they only remember what it was like, this is not so anymore. It has improved greatly from small, uncomfortable tents and no modern amenities. Now you can have all kinds of facilities which are modern, clean campsites, nice hot showers with very clean toilets. New and advanced camping equipment with multi person tents with lots of room. Tent trailers and RV’s with specific camping for each type.
